Devil's Tongue is a C. chinense variety first documented on an Amish farm in Pennsylvania in the early 1990s, believed to be a natural mutation or chance cross among habanero plants. Pods are thin-walled, elongated, and pointed with a characteristic tongue-like shape, ripening from green to bright yellow or red depending on the variant, and carry an intense fruity heat similar to a habanero but sharper. It is used primarily in high-heat hot sauces and by chili enthusiasts seeking habanero-level heat with a slightly different flavor character.
