Jimmy Nardello is a treasured sweet Italian frying pepper with a long, thin, curved shape reaching 6–9 inches in length. Originally from Ruoti in the Basilicata region of Italy, the variety was brought to the United States by the Nardello family in 1887 and later preserved by Seed Savers Exchange. When pan-fried, the thin-walled red fruits become silky, sweet, and faintly smoky—a hallmark of southern Italian cucina povera.
